Along with the rest of Throbbing Gristle, Sleazy was a bold provocateur and activist. But he was also one of the most innovative musicians of his generation. Coil played the first ever Supersonic Festival in 2003, it was a real honour.
It is with great sadness that this morning the Quietus is having to report that Peter “Sleazy” Christopherson of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Coil and X-TG has died. He was 55, and reportedly passed away in his sleep. The news was broken in the early hours of the morning by Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti, who tweeted “Our dearest beautiful Sleazy left this mortal coil as he slept in peace last night.words cannot express our grief”. The Throbbing Gristle website simply features Sleazy’s name, and the dates of his life: 1955 – 2010. From The Quietus
We know it’s only November, but, whatever, we’re done for the year (well, for gigs anyway). Thanks to all who came along to our final gig of the year last night. Torche, Part Chimp and Stinky Wizzleteat was a badass way to end the year.
We’ve had some really great gigs this year, Supersonic Festival was a phenomenal success and Home of Metal is coming together VERY nicely (watch this space for exciting announcements next year). Huge thanks to all who’ve played for us, volunteered and of course attended the shows – see you again next year!
Here’s just some of the shows from 2010
Eyehategod at The Asylum in April

Cluster at Town Hall in February

And of course there was Supersonic Festival in October – check out the collective memory for photos, videos and reviews
See you all next year for, amongst others, Kayo Dot, Blood Ceremony and Arbouretum – get tickets for these shows here
So it’s almost a month since Supersonic Festival 2010 – here is a little video which whizzes through some of this years highlights. You can also have a look at ourcollective memory which has collated blog posts, photos and other video footage – enjoy and see you next year!
After a crushing night with Black Breath next Wednesday we hope you will have the energy to return to the Hare & Hounds the following night and witness the mighty, thunderous Torche.
KAPOW!
and what a night it will be as London noise rock outfit Part Chimp will be supporting (they have a reputation for being VERY loud, people) and fresh from shiny good Supersonic reviews Stinky Wizzleteat will be opening proceedings. Check out these kind words
Through all the ultraheavy riffage and faux (oh alright real) violence, the vocals from hell, the filth and depravity what I really picked up on from this band is that they CARE! And it’s not just about their music which is quite clearly well rehearsed and fabulous. I note that they are able to throw in gearchanges and improvisations which are shouted out to the beleaguered Teat and they don’t drop a beat throughout the set! That takes some doing. But they seem to care about people. Just look at those song titles. And joking aside, you should have seen the love in the eyes of the poor frenzied creatures who follow this band – even as they set about Teat and ripped his clothes off.
As one could expect, Black Breath created the most mayhem out of all the acts that performed during the course of Capitol Hill Block Party. Black Breath’s lead singer, Nate McAdams was constantly throwing himself off the stage and into the waiting arms of his metal minions…
Nate McAdams is a master of song introduction. Let me give you two examples:
1) “This song goes out to all you twisted whore fucks out there…” The band then launches into an unforgiving version of “Heavy Breathing.”
2) “This song is about my favorite snack, it’s called ‘Eat the Witch.’”
Southern Lord knew what they were doing when they signed this powerhouse. The Vera stage was the most packed I’d seen it during the whole weekend for this set. Even little kids sitting on their father’s shoulders were requesting their favorite cuts, and these dudes truly slayed.
They opened their set with a powerful version of “Black Sin (Spit On The Cross)” and exploded onto the stage; N.T. McAdams was in great voice throughout the concert, guitarist Zack Muljat stalked the audience like a young Jello Biaffra, lead guitarist Eric Wallace dressed the songs with tasty licks and the rhythm section of Jamie Byrum and Elijah Nelson delivered the thundering foundation for the rest of the band.
The Moseley Record & Book Fair will be appearing at St Columba Church Hall monthly. Next event is this Sunday 21st November, pop by for rarities and bargains!
Southern Lords latest signing Black Breathplay the Hare & Hounds next Wednesday, supported by Grimpen Mire- a show not to be missed! Expect very loud amps & raw hardcore action – influenced by the likes of Celtic Frost, Poison Idea and Kreator. Don’t forget your ear plugs

If you like coming to Capsule shows, and frankly I know I do, make sure that you attend the final gigs of the year.
The latest Southern Lord signing Black Breath will be performing at Hare & Hounds on 24th November, with support from Grimpen Mire. Then the following day (yes, it’ll be a fine week) the mighty Torche will be playing along with Part Chimp and Stinky Wizzleteat.
