Kids Gig photos

A very special Kids Gig during the Bring To Light weekend saw Richard Dawson perform to a huge crowd of kids and families at the Symphony Hall cafe. Thanks to Richard for coming along and playing ‘the most daunting gig of his career’, and to Sara Hamilton Baker for facilitating. Photos by Katja Ogrin.

Kids Gig this Saturday with Richard Dawson

Last year’s Kids Gig featured Islaja and Flower/Corsano Duo

As part of Bring To Light, there’ll be a very special Kids Gig, a fantastic introduction to
experimental music, for children and their families on Saturday 26th October at 2pm at the Symphony Hall. This free event is aimed at the under 7s and features the inimitable Richard Dawson. There’s more family friendly activity on Saturday with a free performance by Shangaan Electro -the dance phenomenon from South Africa, this takes place in the Library of Birminghams’ amphitheatre at 3pm.

No need to book, just drop in.

Meet Richard Dawson

A one of a kind singer and performer, we know Richard was a highlight for many at last year’s Supersonic Festival and he’s back in Birmingham at Bring To Light 25-27 October. We thoroughly recommend you listen to his recent record ‘The Glass Trunk’, an incredible record Richard created after some research time at Tyne & Wear Museum. The record is inspired by people’s histories and sounds like it was plucked from an archive itself.

Here’s a review of the record by Stewart Lee:

Richard will play at Bring To Light next month, and you can purchase weekend tickets for £40 from www.theticketsellers.co.uk

And Richard will also be delighting families with his twisted tales at a very special Kids Gig on Saturday 26th October. More details to follow.
