GLATZE join MELT BANANA

Capsule are pleased to announce the addition of GLATZE to our upcoming MELT BANANA show this May 27th, tickets HERE.

Glatze is back! After a brief hiatus the one-man musical loon (Sam Underwood) has been coaxed out to play by the prospect of supporting Melt Banana again, for old times’ sake. Glatze’s first gig for Capsule was this very same support slot, back in 2009.

Expect the usual live improvised electronic mayhem, with just a hint more “mad professor” than “young buck”. He promises to do his very best in support of one of his favourite live acts…

Geiger-Müller Sound System

Capsule and Vivid Projects co-commission Sonic Graffiti led to many exciting opportunities for artist Sam Underwood, including a residency at Bristol’s Ished. The residency programme offered artists the rare opportunity to experiment with new technologies to create cutting edge new artworks.

Whilst in residence, Sam, along with composer Timothy X Atack, rescued an ancient rotting harmonium and transformed it into a worldwide sound installation that will play for a hundred years. The artists plan to scatter encased reeds from the instrument through flea markets and junk stalls in the hope that they will find themselves around the globe. In an age where everything is based on fast results, Geiger-Muller Sound System hope the joy of this project

will live far longer than the originators themselves. Read more about the project here or read the artists’ blog entries.

You can watch a video of the project here

Noise Box auction

To celebrate 10 years of Supersonic Festival, musical instrument designers MortonUnderwood have created ten unique noise box synths for Capsule to auction. Each one is hand-painted by a talented designer in the Supersonic 2012 colours. The result is a beautiful set of bespoke synthesisers, which capture both the visual and sonic aesthetic of the festival.
After being on display during the festival, the Noise Boxes are now individually up for auction via ebay. All proceeds will go towards future Capsule projects, helping us to deliver more extraordinary events for adventurous audiences.

Iron Fist of the Sun – bitter, cold, contemporary power electronics/industrial that steers clear of the cliches that pollute the scene. Synth heavy and tonal, drawing inspirations from electro-acoustic academia as much as underground black metal. Hailing originally from Druids Heath in Birmingham. Iron Fist of the Sun is the current sonic project of extreme noise protagonist Lee Howard. Experimental sonic terrorism and Black Metal are all encompassed in an unforgiving soundtrack to your most brutal nightmares… just don’t dare call it “Art Noise”

Mr Underwood fuses an array of electronic and acoustic sounds in his improvised live performances. Drawing inspiration from electronica and Musique concrète, Mr.Underwood weaves a complex sonic tapestry, from delicate and intricate sounds to more beat driven compositions. Using his ever growing collection of obscure and self-made instruments Mr.Underwood’s live performances are rich with distinctive sounds and textures.
