Gig review from last Saturday

Gig Junkies have published a glowing review of the show with Barn Owl, Grumbling Fur and Ex Easter Island Head.

“The reassuring predictability of any Capsule event (nothing so vulgar or prosaic as just a ‘gig’ about Capsule) will be its…well, unpredictability. And none more so that with this electronica/existential/experimenta triple line-up. Though it did take some getting used to watching congregated punters with pints shuffling politely in to high, wooden box-stall pews surrounded by the austere beauty of St Paul’s neo-classical columns and pediments.”

Screenprinted Barn Owl posters

Our good friend and designer/illustrator extraordinaire David Hand has screenprinted some beautiful editions of the poster he designed for Saturday’s show at St Paul’s Church. And they’re absolute beauties. We’re hoping to have them in time for Saturday for people to buy at the show, and we’ll make them available online after. They’re super limited so they won’t be around for long.

David also runs the wonderful Lancashire & Somerset records and is producing a great event in June in Shropshire with Kogumaza, Trembling Bells, Richard Dawson and lots of other good stuff, more info at www.lancashireandsomerset.co.uk

Tickets are flying out for the Barn Owl show at the moment so snap up yours via www.theticketsellers.co.uk

Doors are 8pm and the first act will start soon after, so we recommend you get down early. See you then!

Bill Drummond at Library of Birmingham

Volume: Birmingham’s Art, Book and Print Fair, 5-7 December 2013 has been created as a unique event for the Library of Birmingham Discovery Season by Capsule. Working with Writing West Midlands, Birmingham Zine Festival, An Endless Supply, The Baskerville Society, Grand Union and Eastside Projects, the event will celebrate the very best in independent publishing. Volume will open with a keynote speech from artist, musician and writer, Bill Drummond.

“Scottish artist Bill Drummond (1953) has used various media in his practice including actions, music and words. His actions too numerous to list, some more infamous than others; his music from the multi million selling KLF to the choral music of The17; the words have accumulated into a pile of books. His work of the last twelve years is catalogued at www.penkilnburn.com.”

Drummond’s World Tour Retrospective ‘Bill Drummond: 25 Paintings’ starts at Eastside Projects, Birmingham in March 2014.

Welcome to St Paul’s church

On Saturday 27th April we’re bringing an incredible line up to the beautiful St Paul’s church in the historic Jewellery Quarter. If you’ve not been to St Paul’s before, we thought some pictures should get you excited for the event. It’s an amazing place to hear music, and famed for its acoustics. Last year we presented Esmerine at St Paul’s, next week Barn Owl, Grumbling Fur (Alexander Tucker and Daniel O’Sullivan) and Ex Easter Island Head will take over the space. We hope to present more events in exciting places like this in the future.

We’ll also have a pop up bar with Purity ales and wine available.

Tickets are available via theticketsellers.co.uk

If you subscribe to the channel, you’ll get an email letting you know when new stuff is uploaded.
